So I feel like I should actually put a little something in here about myself so you have a clue why I’m writing this. My name is Meghan and I’m 35 years old (how in the hell did that happen?) The first 2 years of my 30s were down right crappy.
I got married to my boyfriend of 5 years in January 2007. Fantastic huh? We had a house, we had a dog, and finally we were married. Well fast foward to 2009 where things just seemed to fall apart. In March 2009 I was laid off from my job after almost 8 years. It wasn’t too terrible because I got a severance package, so at least I didn’t have to run out and find a new job. In August 2009 my husband came home and said he wanted a divorce. Well damn. I still didn’t have a job. In December 2009 I got a temp job that lasted about 2 months. In February 2010 things starting getting crazy again… I moved out of my house into a two bedroom apartment with my dog Pepper (oh yes, I got the dog), started a new full-time job… which I quit a mere 4 weeks later, and then landed my “dream job” with a Non-profit less than 2 weeks later. The next year was pretty slow moving in the divorce department, then in March 2011 it finally started to move along. Woo hoo! Could things finally be looking up?? Yes and no. My divorce was final on March 29, 2011… but the day after I lost my job. Really? Here we go again…
Now I have a full-time job that I love (on most days). I’ve recently moved into a townhouse (that I love) that is closer to work and closer to my friends. Things are a little more settled, but definitely not where I want them to be. I still have a long ways to go. Did I mention I’m 35 now? Holy cow.
So that pretty much brings you up to speed. This blog is about my journey from married to merry. A little bit about where I’m going and what I’m doing to get there. I’ll share what I do to keep myself sane, how things have changed (and continue to change), and just the everyday stuff that makes up the life of a single 30 something.
